WELCOME ADDRESS FROM THE PRINCIPAL


Congratulations on successfully gaining admission to the Tony Blair International Academy (T B I A). You are recognized as a bona fide member of the T B I A family, and I wish you the best in your academic endeavour.

T B I A is a child-friendly institution, which simply means that your rights as a child will be fully respected in the bid to achieve your total development. The management of the school believes that you can learn fast in an enabling environment, and this is just what you have ahead of you: neat and spacious classrooms with ceiling fans, flush toilets, spacious playground, a canteen and some more. But most importantly you will be working with friendly, dedicated, and qualified teachers. You will be encouraged to develop your potentials in an exciting way. However, you will be required to play your part by showing interest in learning and behaving well.

Understand that this is a golden opportunity you have been given. Remember that there are thousands of children who can not access the means to an education, and I say must here that you are privileged. So make use of the opportunity while it is in your hands.

TBIA believes that every child, especially girls, has the right to cheap, good-quality education. This is because good quality education helps children develop skills needed to give them a voice, make long-lasting positive changes in their lives, which in turn will free them from poverty. As a result the academy’s motto is: “To Learn and to Live”.

There are several reasons why children miss out completely in benefiting from private education in Sierra Leone today. From our experience, the main one is poverty. The costs of school fees, uniforms and books in private schools, are so high that not many parents can afford. TBIA proud itself as a private school with a difference. Our fees and charges are the lowest compeered to the facilities we provide and the standard of learning we deliver.

TBIA can and will lay claim to become one of the country's great schools. A school of unsurpassed beauty, it embodies the ideals of the Sierra Leone Enlightenment. At TBIA we pride ourselves on the friendly and supportive environment that is one of TBIA’s distinguishing characteristics.
